Approach and Performance
Vivendi’s headquarters awarded EMAS certification
Vivendi’s environmental management system (EMS) at its Paris headquarters has been certified under the EU EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) guidelines. The EMS has two major objectives:
- Evaluate, improve and increase the transparency of Vivendi’s environmental performance to stakeholders, while increasing employees’ awareness of headquarters’ environmental efforts.
- Support the group’s business units in their efforts to identify and manage environmental impacts.
An environmental impact review was completed during the first half of 2007 which identified the environmental impacts of the headquarters’ operations and corporate activities and assessed the efficacy of the existing environmental management system. The review included various policies and programs, opinion surveys, and interviews with employees whose jobs have potential environmental impacts. In 2008, a revised EMS was put in place, which includes both an environmental policy and an action plan for improving environmental performance. In 2009, Vivendi’s headquarters EMS received final certification from the Ministry of Ecology, Energy, Sustainable Development, and the Sea (see the environmental statement). Vivendi’s headquarters EMS has also received ISO 14001 certification.
SFR ISO 14001 certification
- In December 2007 SFR was awarded ISO 14001 certification for its environmental management system (EMS) for all maintenance and technical center facilities, most of its network relay antennas, and for the Lyon Saint-Priest, Massy and Rennes offices.
- In 2008, SFR was granted ISO 14001 certification of its Environmental Management System (EMS) for a broadened scope compared to 2007. Certification now includes management of mobile telecommunications (maintenance and deployment of strategic sites and relay antennas) and operation and maintenance of the principal tertiary sites (Aix Arcobole, Aix le Sulky, Gentilly, Lyon Saint-Priest, Massy, Metz Arago, Nantes Saint-Herblain, Rennes, Rive Défense, Toulouse and the Tour Séquoia, the Group’s head office at Paris-La Défense).
- In 2009, SFR received ISO 14001 certification for its EMS for all its activities involving deployment and maintenance of mobile-telephony network sites (strategic sites and relay antennas) as well as for its principal tertiary sites (see list of sites above). SFR extended the principles of the EMS to fixed-network sites and to the SRR (Société Réunionnaise du Radiotéléphone).
