Hailed internally for giving meaning to each employee’s jobs and activities, the sustainable development policy and the group’s commitment to it are a true factor of motivation and a force for attractiveness. Programs enabling employees to get involved in citizenship and solidarity actions also contribute to the group’s commitment, and are encouraged within the organization.

The CSR program at Activision Blizzard

Activision Blizzard has implemented a program of corporate social responsibility entitled "Changing the Way the World Plays." This program involves company employees and also contributes to attracting new talents. Activision Blizzard feels that the company should contribute to improving community life where it does business (community solidarity, partnerships, and education). Among the initiatives supported by this program are the recruitment and training of veterans returning to civilian life, support for the Ultimate College Bowl voter registration program before the recent American presidential election, financial sponsorship for the Tony Hawk Foundation, which contributes to creating sports facilities in disadvantaged areas, and a partnership with the Library Foundation of Los Angeles, whose aim is to make libraries social and cultural sharing venues.

SFR citizenship commitment programs

Social commitment is one of SFR’s three values. In 2009, more than 1,000 employees showed commitment to equal opportunity for all, through one of the citizenship programs offered by SFR and its Foundation. Through this program, employees created more than 100 non-profit projects, supported more than 300 students in their studies, and took part in a number of missions to aid development. SFR’s commitments are bolstered by its employees’ involvement (figures as of late 2009):

  • The Citizen Support Fund (Fonds de soutien citoyen): 94 non-profit projects supported by employees and financed by the Fondation SFR;
  • Tutoring: 173 employees tutor young students who are from underprivileged backgrounds (Cercle Passeport Telecom, Télémaque, Un avenir ensemble) or disabled (ARPEJEH, first year of actions for the association in 2009: 11 trainees with disabilities hosted by SFR, 30 employees taking part in the program, setup of a career discovery workshop in partnership with the Paris schools district);
  • The citizen-employee status: 28 employees take part in an association, through a skills and work philanthropy program, (88 beneficiaries since creation of the status in 2006). The citizen time program (forfait temps citoyen) gives employees authorizations for absences, making them available free of charge in order to work for the non-profit association. The program duration is of six days per year, or nine days if the employee shares in the investment by using three days of his/her reduced-workweek-law time, or a total of 12 days of work at the disposal of the association;
  • The solidarity days-off: 23 employees traveled to take part in development missions abroad (115 since the launch of the initiative in 2005);
  • 480 employees mobilized at three call centers during the Sidaction campaign, for which SFR was the operator;
  • Mobilization of employees during special operations organized with the charity Emmaüs Défi: Super Noël, Sustainable Development Week (10€ paid per mobile device collected by employees, or over 33,000€ paid to Emmaüs Défi, enabling the creation of a résumé workshop for persons on the job market, launched December 16th, 2009 by Frank Esser)

The awareness raising to responsible use of Internet by the employees of GVT

The Brazilian operator GVT adopted since 2001 an approach of responsibility and of awareness raising to "a responsible use of Internet", in which the group’s employees are strongly involved. Every week they moderate a blog, in association with strategic partners as the NGOs Safernet, CDI (Comitê para Democratização da Informática) and Ciranda (Ciranda-Central de Notícias dos Direitos da Infância e Adolescência), pedagogue specialist in responsible use of technologies. This blog is dedicated to the promotion of the national campaign of awareness raising to a responsible use of Internet. They also present it voluntarily in schools and educational institutions of the country. In 2009 the first group of volunteers has been set up, which went in about 40 schools to increase the young Brazilians awareness to good uses of Internet.
