Environmental display on cell phones

Since April 2010, SFR has displayed environmental information for some forty mobile devices marketed on its SFR online store. From May, this environmental display will be extended to the entire Espace SFR distribution network.

The evaluation methodology used by SFR takes into account all stages of the cell phone’s life cycle, from the manufacturing stage to recycling. The resulting environmental footprint is presented to customers in the form of three indicators concerning the effect on climate change (greenhouse gases), exhaustion of non-renewable natural resources, and water consumption.

To guide consumers in choosing cellular phones that are more environmentally friendly, SFR includes an overall environmental performance rating on the labels of each mobile device in its category (standard, multimedia, Web phone).
