Vivendi partner of Safer Internet Day Once again, as part of its partnership with various European bodies for a clearer assessment of the opportunities and risks inherent in young people’s use of digital technologies, Vivendi is participating in this year’s "Safer Internet Day" on February 7th, 2012.

On its corporate site and via its subsidiaries, Vivendi is relaying the European Commission video clip on the theme Connecting generations and educating each other, with the slogan “Discover the digital wolrd together… safely!”. The objective is to highlight the fact that the online world is a unique arena where people of all ages can learn together and from each other, especially regarding online security.

To make Internet a safer place for youth is perfectly in line with Vivendi’s sustainable development policy and the group’s responsibility. Vivendi is a founding member of the CEO Coalition to make a better place for kids announced on December 1st 2011 by Neelie Kroes, Vice President of the European Commission in charge of digital strategy.

In addition, Vivendi is supporting "Pan-EU Youth", an initiative of the European Schoolnet and the Insafe network. This innovative platform offers young web-users in the European Union a space for expressing their views about the impact of new technologies on their daily lives. Online debates on "virtual lives", “Young people in the media” or “e-skills” give them the chance to express their opinions and expectations by contributing to blogs, surveys and forums. They can also download an interactive role game especially designed for the occasion.

December 1, 2011: Internet, a better place for kids

Vivendi is one of the founding members of the initiative announced on December 1st 2011 by Neelie Kroes, Vice President of the European Commission in charge of digital strategy, aiming at making the Internet a framework of expression as safe as possible.
This initiative called CEO Coalition to make the Internet a better place for kids is perfectly in line with Vivendi’s approach of responsibility towards society and Jean-Bernard Lévy’s vision (check his blog).

A soon as 2003, Vivendi defined the protection and empowerment of youth as a strategic issue for its sustainable development policy. Since 2010, this issue has been translated into criteria that are part of the remuneration of the group’s senior executives.

Joining this Coalition is a way for Vivendi to clearly express its willingness to share its best practices and expertise with the other participants from the media and telecoms industries. And to strengthen its dialogue at the European level with the civil society and public authorities, an approach anchored in the group’s sustainable development policy.
