SFR has a specific program, SFR Jeunes Talents, for spotting young artists, promoting them, and putting them in touch with professionals. SFR Jeunes Talents has been a great success, with more than 21,400 artists and 125,500 works online, a community numbering more than 130,000 members, and 115 young talents garnering awards in 2009.

SFR Jeunes Talents comprises several “universes”:

  • Music, with 16,000 works and 12,000 artists online as of late 2009
In 2009, 47 groups appeared at major venues and festivals, more than 20 groups signed contracts with record labels, and more than 10 partnerships were carried out with festivals.
  • Text, with 7,400 works and 1,000 artists online as of late 2009 In 2009, Jason Dilukeba, winner of the SFR Jeunes Talents competition at the 2009 Salon du Livre (Paris book fair), published Ekeko with 3TPF.
For the second consecutive year, SFR was a partner of the Salon du Livre, where, at the “L’escale BD-Manga” exhibit, it offered visitors a chance to discover the winners of the SFR Jeunes Talents – Pika éditions (a manga publisher) competition. A Text competition was held: Candidates had to invent dialogue for three panels drawn by mangakas (some 50 contributions were received). The jury, made up of the three authors of the panels, chose three winners, whose work was then exhibited at the Salon du Livre and who were given an opportunity to meet comic-strip professionals.
  • Photography, with 101,000 works and 7,000 artists online as of late 2009. In 2009, Marc Montméat, winner of the 2009 Grand Prix SFR Jeunes Talents Photo competition, showed his work at Paris Photo, the international photography exhibition.
As part of the partnership with the Paris Salon du Livre, a second competition was organized under the heading “Photo & Grafic”: Contestants created three comic or manga panels (with a free choice of theme), and three winners from among the 120 projects submitted were exhibited at the Salon and took part in “Speed Booking” sessions (where an amateur has 10 minutes to present his/her work to a professional).
  • Video, with 1,100 works and 1,400 artists online as of late 2009 In 2009, the winning SFR Jeunes Talents videos were aired during "Arte Video Night". Also, on May 22, 2009, SFR recognized the most daring short film among the Directors’ Fortnight international selection. The SFR Prize for best short subject was awarded to Montparnasse by Mikhaël Hers (France) by a jury of professionals and young directors put together by SFR and chaired this year by Agnès Merlot.
The 15 short films selected, including the winner, were offered free of charge in VoD to SFR neufbox customers and on mobile via the Vodafone Live portal, accessible to 3G/3G+ subscribers for one month (that amounts to a visibility of 1.4 million SFR neufbox VoD subscribers and 5 million unique visitors to the Vodafone Live portal per month for the selected short films).
